Showing Up, No Matter What

Showing Up, No Matter What

Before the sun rises, there is a moment when the world holds its breath.

A soft gathering at the edge of night.
A quiet knowing that something is about to begin.

We ride at dawn,
not because it is easy,
but because something in us remembers—
how to show up,
how to stay,
how to carry one another forward.

This year, our DRUUMM Public Worship emerges from that threshold space—
held with care and vision by our SWANA-Arab Caucus,
whose leadership calls us toward courage shaped by memory,
by diaspora,
by the enduring rhythms of culture, resistance, and faith.

We will gather across distance and time
to be guided by the prophetic voice of Rev. Summer Albayati—
whose ministry weaves together Islam, Unitarian Universalism, and liberation,
inviting us into a deeper, more expansive belonging.

And we will be carried—
not just accompanied, but lifted—
by the music of Rev. Verdis L. Robinson,
whose sound opens space in the spirit
for breath, for grief, for joy, for becoming.

This is not just a service.
It is a crossing.

A place where we remember that even now—
especially now—
we are not alone.

So come as you are.
Bring your questions, your weariness, your hope.
Bring the parts of you that are still searching for dawn.

Let us gather in that sacred in-between,
where community becomes sanctuary,
and sanctuary becomes movement.
