As the virtual dust after this year’s UUA General Assembly settles, our hearts still soar with gratitude to DRUUMM members and BIPOC friends who joined us on Zoom or in spirit at DRUUMM Village. We also give profound thanks to the volunteers and the generous donors whose faithful support made DRUUMM Village happen. Thank you to all for being in community with us!
GA proceedings can consume a lot of energy, and almost 150 participants were joyfully sustained at our DRUUMM Village, from warm greetings exchanged at In-Gathering, to starting each day in Meditation, to casual conversation during Coffee Hours, to storytelling and poetry-writing accompanied by an eclectic playlist at the Virtual Party, to an affirmation of our resilience at the Closing Circle. And let’s not forget the spirit-filled and info-packed Annual Meeting, which 97 of us attended!
Speaking of which, the Annual Meeting, was beautifully led. If you missed it, please join in congratulating Janice Marie Johnson and Paula Cole Jones, each of whom were awarded the Mel Hoover Beloved Community Award and whose beautiful reflections on the significance of DRUUMM moved us to tears. Members may view the recording at youtube.com/@druumm.
DRUUMM Village events were also spaces where we were able to encourage each other as we anticipated GA votes on issues particularly important to our BIPOC community and then to celebrate together, as when the Action of Immediate Witness, “Solidarity with Palestinians,” passed.
While DRUUMM Village 2025 in Baltimore, MD, may be a year away, our Slack channels are always open and we have many upcoming events for the BIPOC community. If you need to renew your membership, or join for the first time, please take 15 minutes today at druumm.org/membership to stay connected so you don’t miss a thing!
