Sign up for our DRUUMM Choir by Feb 21st

Music is one of the most beautiful parts of our DRUUMM community. Whenever we gather, the joy of singing and sharing in song abounds. This year for our annual Public Worship with guest preacher Rev. Katie Romano Griffin of All Souls Indianapolis, we’re excited to be organizing a special DRUUMM Choir with director Amanda Thomas, our incredible UU Troubadour based in Chicago.

Our BIPOC-only choir will engage virtually with Amanda who will work with our tech team to create several new music videos for the Public Worship on May 11th. For inspiration, check out this example from UU The Vote. We are open to singers of all backgrounds. If you are interested, please register by February 21st. Rehearsals will be scheduled based on participant availability.

About Amanda M. Thomas – Mezzo soprano

Amanda is a retired UU music director and a member of Unity Temple Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Oak Park, Illinois. She has been an active UU for 22 years, and has served on the Board of Trustees for the Association of UU Music Ministries and on the UUA’s Music Leadership Certification Committee. She has led workshops and music at the UUA General Assembly as a soloist, choir member, worship leader, and choir director for Ministry Days, as well as for The Service of The Living Tradition. Amanda is now serving as a Troubadour and offering services as a freelance soloist, music/choir consultant, choral conductor, workshop facilitator, worship leader, vocal instructor and respite music director. Amanda believes we can each find our own joy through music, and as UU’s each travel their own path to a free and responsible search for truth and meaning, Amanda enjoys the monumental task of creating ways to inspire and feed the souls of all individuals through music.
